Overview
The Lead Montessori Primary Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing and academically enriching environment for young learners ages 3yrs - 6yrs old. This role blends academic instruction with character development, social-emotional support and strong family engagement. Lower elementary teachers are expected to model positive behavior, uphold the school’s mission, and foster a Montessori classroom culture in respect, safety, and a love of learning.
Duties
- Design and deliver dynamic lesson plans for ages 3yrs-6yrs old that align with Montessori philosophy, emphasizing hands-on learning and student independence in subjects such as literacy, math, science, social studies, and cultural studies.
- Provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for students
- Encourage children to develop social skills and positive self-esteem
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to parents
- Implement behavior management strategies in the classroom
- Use appropriate teaching methods to meet individual student needs
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues and administrators
- Works effectively with school colleagues, parents and administrators
- Performs other related duties as required
Minimum Experience
- 2-3 years of experience working in a Montessori classroom
Education Background
- High school diploma or bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
- Montessori Teaching Credential/Diploma from a MACTE-accredited teacher education program (e.g., AMS, AMI) appropriate for the age level.
