Duties
- Provide direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report changes promptly to nursing staff.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Assist with medical procedures including catheter care, phlebotomy, and aseptic techniques in various settings such as hospitals, clinics, or home care environments.
- Maintain a safe environment by following infection control protocols, HIPAA regulations, and proper medical documentation practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in specialties like geriatrics, behavioral health, pediatrics, or ICU to deliver comprehensive patient-centered care.
- Use EMR systems effectively to document patient information accurately and ensure seamless communication across healthcare providers.
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, dementia care including Alzheimer’s and memory care needs, or in specialized settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe patient handling and procedures.
- Familiarity with advanced patient care skills including use of Hoyer lifts, catheter care, vital signs monitoring, and basic life support (BLS).
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments like emergency medicine, urgent care, hospital medicine units including PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), ICU (Intensive Care Unit), or post-acute care settings.
- Compassionate caregiving skills with a focus on geriatrics, behavioral health support, hospice or home & community care experience.
