Salary/Benefits:
$75,000 to $85,000 annually. Incentive opportunity up to $8,000 annually, paid quarterly based on client-determined key performance indicators.
The 2nd Shift Onsite Manager provides high-level, floor-based leadership for an intricate manufacturing operation at the client’s site. The position leads 7 departments that are spread across 2 floors, with responsibility for 2 direct reports and 40 to 60 indirect associates. This role serves as a client-facing WorkForce leader who owns safety, staffing, retention, GMP compliance, production execution, and process improvement while identifying practical ways to improve efficiency and reduce operational cost.
Client Relationship Management:
- Act as the primary WorkForce contact for operational and staffing matters within the assigned departments
- Maintain daily communication with client leaders to understand priorities, respond to needs, communicate risk, and align execution with customer expectations
- Provide clear updates on staffing, safety, employee performance, retention, and operational issues
- Balance customer responsiveness with sound judgment and escalate concerns that affect safety, quality, policy, or program performance
Onsite Operations Management:
- Lead second shift operations across approximately seven departments and two floors, including production, shipping and receiving, laboratory, quality, sanitation, and support functions
- Maintain a continuous, visible presence on the manufacturing floor; this role is not office based except for necessary coaching, performance, disciplinary, and administrative responsibilities
- Conduct regular floor walks to monitor production flow, housekeeping, sanitation, employee coverage, work execution, and adherence to GMP, safety, and client requirements.
- Establish clear priorities across departments and independently resolve routine operational needs with the team
- Support the 3:00 PM changeover meeting and work through production requirements, including extended weekday coverage and weekend support based on client workload
Onsite Staffing Management:
- Directly supervise two supervisors and provide functional leadership to approximately 40 to 60 associates
- Coach, mentor, train, and hold supervisors, leads, and associates accountable for attendance, performance, conduct, safety, retention, and client expectations
- Partner with the recruitment team to maintain staffing coverage and resolve onboarding, assignment, attendance, and coverage gaps
Employee Relations and Performance Management:
- Lead employee relations conversations, resolve conflicts, and maintain a professional, respectful workplace
- Implement performance improvement plans and disciplinary action consistent with company policy, documentation standards, and client requirements
Operational Excellence:
- Evaluate processes through floor observation, performance data, time studies, and team input to identify safe, practical improvements
- Support continuous improvement efforts that strengthen production efficiency, quality, workflow, staffing effectiveness, and cost performance
- Encourage teams to work smarter, eliminate avoidable inefficiency, and meet operational expectations without sacrificing safety, quality, or employee engagement
- Own execution against the client scorecard and support success in safety training, operational execution, staffing, headcount management, and retention
- 10 or more years of progressive manufacturing or operations management experience with responsibility for multiple departments, frontline leaders, and hourly associates
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, high-volume manufacturing operations with overlapping production priorities
- Thorough knowledge of GMP, safety, quality, sanitation, production flow, staffing, and performance management
- Experience supporting shipping and receiving, laboratory, quality, or production functions preferred. Similar cross-functional manufacturing leadership will be considered
- Evidence of a continuous improvement mindset, including process mapping, time studies, staffing analysis, Lean/6S principles, cost reduction, or productivity improvement
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to work independently with limited support during second shift; you will be highest leader on your shift
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, client-facing professionalism, floor credibility, attention to detail, and ability to hold others accountable
- Ability to work fully onsite, a second shift schedule, extended weekday coverage, and one to four weekends per month based on production needs
- Ability to meet client site PPE and appearance requirements, including steel toe footwear and site-specific hair and jewelry restrictions.
- Scorecard: safety training and execution, staffing and headcount coverage, employee retention, operational execution, and client satisfaction.
- Incentive eligibility is based on scorecard performance and is paid quarterly when targets are achieved.
Physical Demands:
- Position requires frequent walking and standing across two floors of a manufacturing site and may require occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs
- Position requires the ability to wear required personal protective equipment and navigate active manufacturing areas safely
- 100% onsite in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The role requires extensive floor coverage and comfort with dust, strong odors, cleaning and sanitation activity, noise, and fluctuating production demands
