Second Shift (Afternoon/Evening)

Position Summary
The 2nd Shift Metal Finishing Racker is responsible for preparing and fixturing customer parts for anodizing, plating, chemical conversion coating, passivation, and other metal finishing processes. This position ensures parts are properly racked, masked, and handled to meet customer specifications, quality requirements, and production schedules. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Rack and un-rack aerospace, commercial, and industrial components for metal finishing operations.
- Select and install appropriate racks, fixtures, wire, clamps, and tooling to ensure proper processing and electrical contact.
- Apply masking materials including tape, plugs, caps, and specialty masking products according to work instructions and customer specifications.
- Review work orders, process travelers, drawings, and specifications to determine racking and masking requirements.
- Handle customer parts carefully to prevent scratches, dents, contamination, or other damage.
- Inspect parts before and after processing for defects, damage, and proper completion of work instructions.
- Load and unload racks from process lines using carts, hoists, and material handling equipment.
- Organize and stage work to support efficient production flow throughout the shift.
- Maintain inventory of masking supplies and racking materials.
- Assist plating and anodizing operators with production activities as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Complete production documentation accurately and on time.
- Follow all company safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Manufacturing, warehouse, assembly, or production experience preferred.
- Ability to read and follow written work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to work independently during evening hours with minimal supervision.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in anodizing, plating, chemical processing, or metal finishing operations.
- Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing and quality requirements.
- Experience reading blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of masking and fixturing techniques.
- Experience operating overhead hoists and material handling equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and handling of parts and fixtures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand movements associated with wiring, masking, and racking.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, humidity, and varying temperatures.
Working Conditions
- Industrial metal finishing facility.
- Exposure to acids, cleaning solutions, plating chemicals, and process equipment.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, aprons, and face shields.
- Fast-paced production environment with daily throughput and quality goals.
- Shift differential may apply for second-shift employees.

Pay: $16.90 - $22.00 per hour
