Retail Sales Associate – The UPS Store [12368 Poway Rd.]

Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Pay Range: $16.90 – $18.50 per hour
(Higher pay for candidates with prior UPS Store experience and/or similar stores and active Notary Public commission)
Overview
We’re hiring a Retail Sales Associate to join our team at our new UPS Store in San Diego! If you enjoy helping people, are dependable, and want to grow with a small business, this is a great opportunity. You’ll assist customers with shipping, packaging, printing, and mailbox services while providing friendly, fast, and accurate service.
Duties
- Greet customers warmly and assist them in locating products within the store.
- Operate cash registers and Point of Sale (POS) systems efficiently to process transactions.
- Provide product demonstrations to educate customers about features and benefits.
- Upsell products by understanding customer needs and recommending suitable options.
- Maintain an organized and visually appealing sales floor, ensuring merchandise is well-stocked and displayed.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to enhance satisfaction.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve sales goals and maintain high standards of customer service.
- Assist in inventory management, including stock replenishment and conducting regular counts.
Experience
- Previous experience in retail sales, similar to the UPS store or customer service, is preferred but not required.
- Bilingual candidates are highly desirable to cater to a diverse customer base.
- Familiarity with cash registers, POS systems, and retail math is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers.
- A proactive attitude towards learning about products and enhancing sales techniques.
- Must be able to work on the weekends.
- Experience in supervising or mentoring junior staff is a plus but not mandatory.
Additional Preferences:
- Part-time and full-time positions available.
- Notary Public license and Live Scan background screening is preferred. (support to obtain certification may be offered).
- Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S.
Compensation:
$16.90 – $18 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and certifications.
- Higher end of the range is offered to candidates with:
- Previous UPS Store or similar industry experience.
- Active California Notary Public license.
- Familiarity with shipping, customer service, or print/copy services.
