Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Datacomm Installation Technician to spearhead the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex telecommunications and data communication systems. Duties
- Lead and coordinate datacomm installation projects, including structured cabling, fiber optic systems, and network wiring, ensuring timely completion and quality standards are met.
- Oversee the setup and configuration of telecommunications equipment such as Valcom Intercom, and VoIP solutions.
- Perform fiber splicing, cable termination, and testing using telecommunications testing equipment to ensure optimal system performance.
- Conduct diagnostics on network issues utilizing diagnostic tools and troubleshoot equipment problems related to Ethernet, LAN, radio frequency (RF), and low-voltage electrical wiring.
- Supervise the use of hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing devices like ohmmeters to install or repair telecommunication systems safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all installations comply with schematics, technical specifications, safety protocols, and industry standards.
- Provide mentorship to team members on technical procedures including fiber optic installation, network cabling (Cat5/Cat6), equipment repair, and system upgrades while maintaining high customer service standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or lead in datacomm or telecommunications installation roles with a strong background in fiber splicing, structured cabling, and network wiring.
- Hands-on experience with telecommunication testing equipment such as cable testers, RF testers, and diagnostic tools for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and interpret technical diagrams for system installation and troubleshooting purposes.
- Strong electrical skills in AC/DC electrical systems as well as low-voltage electrical wiring practices.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, crimpers for cable termination, and safety equipment necessary for fieldwork.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; willingness to travel for onsite installations in the Greater Hampton Roads.
- Ability to pass background check and become DCJS licensed
- This position resides primarily in the field. Our HQ is in Williamsburg. Job sites in Greater Hampton Roads and Richmond.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
