Position Title: BaseLayer Flooring Sales

BaseLayer Labs, a division of a well-established manufacturing concern based in the Chicago suburbs, is searching for a sales professional to help grow our business. We have recently launched a premium gym tile flooring product that has several compelling advantages including elastic performance and durability without the “tire shop” odor. In addition, our tiles have a superior locking mechanism, cord channel under tile, beveled edges for safe and optically pleasing transitions.
Since launching this product in January 2026, we have demonstrated strong sales growth on both Amazon and our website. We believe that a sales professional focused on expanding the applications and channels to market will accelerate the growth of our current gym tile product. We are also in the process of developing new flooring products for both home and industrial applications.
The BaseLayer sales position will be responsible for growing the flooring tile sales via BTB and retail channels. The market opportunity has numerous additional application opportunities and multiple channels to market. Key to building this product line will be the establishment of a strong sales process, building a strong pipeline, capable of closing business and maintaining productive relationships with partners.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Grow BaseLayer sales by expanding to retail and BTB customers.
- Establish a CRM to keep track of both customers, selling partners and prospects.
Creation of a sales plan and ability to create a strong sales pipeline. Identify and prioritize sales targets, engage prospects and move them through a sales process to become loyal and profitable customers.
Monthly review of pipeline progress and forecasting new business.
- Effective use of virtual sales tools to begin the engagement of prospects.
Ability to travel to visit customers and prospect new business opportunities.
- Position could work with international distributors in Europe or Central America.
- Work with marketing to plan and execute successful trade shows.
- Actively monitoring and analyzing market trends and competition.
- Creative ability to recognize new business, partnership, or new product opportunities.
- Ability and commitment to sell value for the premium products we produce.
Partner with Customer Service to manage and implement responses to customer reviews and questions. We aspire to have market-leading customer experience.
- While it is desired to have the position based in our Waukegan, Il facility, we will consider applicants that would work remotely.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
- Knowledge of the flooring market, specifically the gym or athletic flooring space. Existing relationships with flooring or sporting goods retailers are desired.
- Develop and nurture strategic relationships with a variety of different partners (gym owners, equipment suppliers, distributors, purchasing agents, contractors, etc).
- Ability to create and deliver compelling sales presentations and lead sales call & sales process.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Competitive and biased for action mentality to win new business. Accountable for successful results.
- Strong win-win negotiating skills. Focus on finding and delivering value.
- Ability to multitask and operate in a dynamic environment.
Work in an office environment.
- Hands-on attitude and willing to do whatever is needed to get the job done.
- Excellent verbal and written, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
- Able and interested in learning new skills.
