Job Overview
Adventist Health Portland is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join the Clinical Laboratory team. This position is responsible for collecting, processing, and handling patient specimens while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with laboratory standards. Candidates must have recent EPIC experience within the last 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and finger-stick blood collections.
- Verify patient identity and specimen accuracy before processing.
- Collect, label, process, and prepare specimens for in-house and reference laboratory testing.
- Maintain proper documentation and laboratory records.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff.
- Follow established procedures for difficult draws, missed collections, and specimen handling.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment according to regulations.
- Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, stock rotation, and expiration monitoring.
- Perform quality control and proficiency testing as required.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Complete additional laboratory duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Recent EPIC experience within the last 12 months (Required).
- High School Diploma or GED (Preferred in Oregon).
- Previous phlebotomy experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting.
- Strong specimen collection and processing skills.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Certifications
One of the following certifications is preferred for Oregon:
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT I or CPT II)
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Phlebotomy Certification
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Phlebotomy Certification
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
Experience:
- EPIC experience within the last 12 months (Required).: 1 year (Required)
License/Certification:
- Phlebotomy Certification (Required)
