Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Overhead Door Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining overhead doors and related systems across various construction sites and commercial properties. Your expertise will ensure that doors operate smoothly, safely, and efficiently, contributing to the safety and functionality of our clients’ facilities. Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair overhead doors, including garage doors, sectional doors, rolling steel doors, and related hardware using hand tools and power tools.
- Perform glass installation for door panels or windows as needed, ensuring proper fit and securement.
- Conduct welding and fabrication tasks to modify or reinforce door components according to specifications.
- Read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble and install door systems.
- Use construction skills such as metal stud framing, carpentry (including trim carpentry), framing, and locksmithing to support door installation projects.
- Handle heavy lifting safely when moving large doors or components; utilize proper techniques for construction site safety.
- Apply caulking, sealants, or weatherproofing materials to ensure optimal insulation and durability of installed systems.
- Perform electrical work related to fixture installation or electrical components within door systems when required.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including schematic diagrams and installation logs.
- Collaborate with team members on remodeling projects or site-specific modifications requiring metal framing or cabinetry adjustments.
Experience
- Prior experience working on construction sites with a focus on door hanging, fabrication, or mechanical installations.
- Hands-on knowledge of glass installation, welding techniques, and the use of hand tools and power tools in a construction environment.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and mechanical knowledge related to overhead door systems.
- Experience with remodeling projects involving carpentry (including trim carpentry), electrical work, or locksmithing is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during complex installations or repairs.
- Knowledge of metal stud framing, fixture installation, cabinet setup, or frame carpentry is advantageous.
- Previous handyman experience or electrical background will be considered a plus for versatile project support. Pay: $35.00 - $43.00 per hour
