Salon Manager:
A salon manager keeps the salon running smoothly where employees enjoy working and clients have a great experience. A salon manager works to make the salon profitable. Driving sales and controlling expenses. This begins by ensuring that the salon has highly trained, professional staff on-site during all hours of operation to provide outstanding customer service.
Some key salon manager job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Recruiting, hiring, training and coaching salon staff
- Responsible for building and maintaining a strong relationship with clients
- Creating work schedules for associates to ensure salon has adequate coverage
- Inventorying salon supplies and reordering as needed
- Ensuring that the salon environment meets cleanliness and hygiene standards required by law and the company
- Monitoring staff’s completion of ongoing education requirements by LookAfter and/or State Board
- Resolving client issues
- Marketing the salon to attract new clients
- Promoting the salon’s services and increasing revenue
- Making sure that all staff is adhering to State Board sanitation guidelines
- Perform audits when needed
A successful salon manager requires certain skills and qualifications. Quality candidates will usually possess:
- Organizational skills to track inventory, create schedules and handle other clerical tasks
- Familiar with salon operating procedures and protocols
- Effective oral and written communication skills to interact with staff, clients, vendors & owners
- Interviewing skills to recruit quality candidates for open positions
- Ability to use spreadsheets, POS systems and word processing programs
- Basic knowledge of business/accounting to track purchasing expenses and work within a budget
- Strong interpersonal skills to handle client issues and coach staff
- Effective written communication skills for documentation and goal setting
- Experience with multiple social media platforms
- Ability to network within the community
- Inspire staff to exceed expectations
Salon Manager Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior management experience
- Prior salon experience preferred
- Valid cosmetology license
