Based in Charlevoix, MI | 30–50% Travel | ⚙ Commissioning & Troubleshooting Industrial Equipment
About the Role
This is not a wrench-turning job.
You’ll be the technical expert on-site, traveling to customer locations to support:
- Equipment startups
- Installation oversight
- Troubleshooting and performance issues
You’ll work alongside contractors who perform the hands-on work—your job is to diagnose, guide, and ensure things are done right.
What You’ll Do
- Travel to customer sites
- Support new equipment commissioning and startups
- Evaluate installations and ensure systems meet operational expectations
- Troubleshoot issues across mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems
- Provide direction to contractors performing installation and repairs
- Conduct inspections and identify root causes of performance issues
- Serve as the technical point of contact for customers on-site
- Document findings and communicate solutions clearly
What the Job Is NOT
- You are not the installer
- You are not doing production welding or fabrication
- You are not a maintenance technician
You are there to figure out what’s wrong and guide others to fix it
Travel Expectations
- 30–50% travel
- Trips typically 2-4 days
- Work at industrial and mining-related sites

What You Bring
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Experience with industrial equipment, bulk material handling, or similar systems
- Basic knowledge of:
- Pneumatics
- Electrical systems (diagnostic level)
- Ability to analyze problems and direct others effectively
- Comfortable working independently in field environments
- Strong communication skills with customers and contractors
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel along with the ability to travel internationally without restrictions
Ideal Backgrounds
Candidates with experience in:
- Field service (especially advisory roles)
- Equipment commissioning or startups
- Industrial project support
- Maintenance leads or supervisors ready to move into a less physical role
Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
