Position: Engine Assembly Mechanic
Reports To: Director of Operations
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Shift: 1st Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Pay Range: $20.50 – $32.00 / Hour
BASIC WORKER FUNCTION:
Assembles piston and turbine engines and completes final helicopter assembly before flight. Performs rigging, adjustments, and works on any issues found during pre-flight or flight testing. Follows blueprints, technical data, and approved procedures.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:
- Assemble major and subassemblies during final stages.
- Make final rigging adjustments before flight.
- Fix minor issues during pre-flight and flight testing.
- Set up, operate, and adjust assembly fixtures, machines, and equipment.
- Use hand and power tools for installation, adjustment, and testing.
- Troubleshoot assembly or flight line problems.
- Maintain accurate records of work.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments.
- Follow all safety and quality rules.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience in helicopter assembly, maintenance, and repair.
- Understanding of helicopter fundamentals and flight theory.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications.
- Detail-oriented with precision assembly skills.
- A&P Certification or ability to obtain.
- Skilled with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Ability to perform precise work with hands.
- Knowledge of final assembly and flight line procedures.
- Troubleshooting and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Flexible for overtime as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years experience in helicopter assembly or related mechanical work preferred.
- A&P Certification required or ability to obtain.
- Experience in FAA-regulated or quality-controlled manufacturing preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Stand and walk for long periods.
- Bend, reach, kneel, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
- Manual dexterity for precise mechanical work.
- Adequate vision for inspections, measurements, and reading documents.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
