Job Overview
The Material Handler will manage the internal flow of work by using work orders to pull all raw materials needed for each production line for the day. This position will work closely with team members to consistently keep up with any changes to production needs. The Material Handler serves as a support to all production employees and management. The Material Handler’s overall focus is to make sure the lines are set up with required materials in a timely manner as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Responsibilities
- Check the color feeders and gaylords for plastic. Notify production team or refill as needed.
- Print labels for jobs based on work orders
- Using the work order, prepare for the days changeovers by providing all raw materials and supplies to the correct production lines.
- Help give operator breaks as needed
- Using a hand pallet jack or forklift, bring all finished pallets back to the staging area for shipping to pick up.
- Tag all completed skids of product
- Provide boxes and skids as needed to production lines
- Restock any unused boxes into the receiving warehouse
- Notify the correct employee when raw materials such as boxes or rolls of labels are low and need reordered.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Must be able to function independently, have flexibility and the ability to work efficiently with others
- Must be able to meet all pre-employment criteria including a drug screen
- Production experience/knowledge
- Fork lift experience
- Communicate effectively with employees and management
- Possess excellent communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of reading work orders
- Basic computer skills
- Strong teamwork attributes
- Strong attention to detail to thoroughly complete work tasks
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of working with and communicating with different personality types
- Capable of actively listening and comprehending to convey information effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Must be able to stand and walk throughout the work shift
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
