BASIC FUNCTION: The responsibilities of the Special Services Coordinator (SSC) are to triage cases requesting rental assistance, provide intervention with landlords and tenants, and assist in agreements to prevent homelessness and preserve tenancies. The SSC will work collaboratively with an internal team and have a strong ability to coordinate with other agencies as needed to assist clients in reaching their goals. The SSC will collaborate with the Housing Court, Tenancy Preservation Program, Community Mediators, and Community Legal Aid to develop comprehensive interventions for tenants and landlords.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Triage requests form landlords and tenants for financial assistance from CMHA to appropriate diversion funds/program
2. Understand prevention funds/programs available to tenants and landlords
3. Comprehend private and subsidized housing markets
4. Provide guidance and support to tenants and landlords to establish tenancy preservation agreements
5. Counsel tenants and landlords on their rights and responsibilities
6. Help with the completion of intakes and applications
7. Maintain accurate records
8. Enter appropriate information into the data system on a regular and consistent basis
9. Collaborate with and coordinate meetings with Eviction Diversion partners including Housing Court, RCAP Solutions, Community Legal Aid, Tenancy Preservation Program and Community Mediation Program
10. Attend Housing Court virtually and in-person to assist in mediation
11. Provide referrals to other social service agencies
12. Follow up on complex cases within 10 days of intervention, and monthly for a 12-month period
13. Provide clients with case management and housing search on a limited basis
14. Return messages from Housing Counseling phone lines
15. Provide community outreach for prevention and housing resources
16. Complete monthly and quarterly SSC reports, and submit them appropriately
17. Assist Housing Counselor Director in completing program reports, and in meeting funding requirements
18. Additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in related field; work experiencecan be substituted for a degree
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A solid understanding of private and subsidized housing markets
- Strong computer skills, with experience in a variety of software applicationsincluding Microsoft Office 365 and Teams / SharePoint
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Ability to work as part of a team, multi-task, and work well with the communityin a fast-paced environment
- Experience intervening with parties to establish agreements, familiarity withtenant/landlord rights, and knowledge of collaborative work and customerservice ideal
- Strong organizational skills
- Sensitivity toward the unique needs and challenges of families/individualsserved
- Experience working with culturally and economically diverse groups of peopleand the demonstrated ability to motivate and support people
Pay: $22.50 per hour
