Receiving Team Member
TIMES FOR THIS POSTION: THESE ARE REQUIRED AND NOT NEGOTIABLE
2 - 3 days will be 6am - 3pm
1-2 days will be 4am - 1pm
What You Will Work On
In this role, you will be at the center of the store’s merchandise flow, ensuring products
are received accurately, safely, and efficiently. You’ll unload deliveries, verify
shipments, and prepare merchandise so it’s ready for timely placement on the sales
floor or for eCommerce fulfillment. Your attention to detail and commitment to process
will directly support inventory accuracy and a smooth customer experience.
You’ll also play a key role in keeping the back-of-house organized and operating at a
high standard. From staging merchandise and entering inventory data to maintaining a
clean and safe receiving area, your work helps the entire store run better. Every shift,
you’ll contribute to operational efficiency, shrink reduction, and Academy’s mission to
make it easier for everyone to enjoy more sports and outdoors.
Who You Will Work With
You’ll work closely with the Logistics team, store leadership, and merchandising
partners to ensure merchandise flows seamlessly from the truck to the floor.
Collaboration is key, as you’ll coordinate daily priorities, communicate discrepancies,
and support shared goals across teams.
You may also partner with eCommerce and sales floor teams as needed, helping
ensure online orders and in-store needs are met. Together, you’ll create a dependable,
organized operation that supports teammates and customers alike.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Previous receiving, warehouse, logistics, or retail support experience preferred
- A strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, organization, and safety
- Comfort using basic computer systems for inventory tracking and data entry
- The ability to follow safety procedures, operational standards, and written or verbal instructions
- Confidence working independently while collaborating with teammates and leaders
- Clear communication skills to report discrepancies, damages, or safety concerns
- A customer-focused mindset, even when working behind the scenes

- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs
- Capability to remain on your feet and move throughout the store for extended periods during scheduled shifts
- Ability to perform physical job functions such as walking, bending, reaching, pulling, carrying, and lifting items up to 50 lbs
- Capacity to complete repetitive tasks, including scanning, stocking, and folding merchandise
- Comfort using ladders or step stools to access merchandise as needed
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced retail environment while adapting to shifting priorities
- Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
- Ability to adhere to company policies and professional standards
