Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during various pediatric dental procedures, including exams, cleanings, restorations, and X-ray imaging.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterile and ready for use.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of treatments and medical histories.
- Provide chairside assistance by handling dental instruments, suctioning, and maintaining a clear field of operation during procedures.
- Educate young patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions in an engaging manner.
- Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques, proper sterilization procedures, and adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow as a dental receptionist when needed.
- Assist with medical documentation including vital signs measurement, medical history updates, and coding procedures for insurance purposes.
- Use advanced dental technology like 3D scanners or digital imaging equipment to enhance diagnostic accuracy in pediatric dentistry.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially within pediatric dentistry or general dentistry environments.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is essential for managing patient records efficiently.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy relevant to pediatrics, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is required.
- Familiarity with X-ray procedures, medical imaging technology, and medical coding enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive care.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations ensures compliance with patient privacy standards.
- Experience with chairside assisting in four-handed dentistry improves workflow efficiency and patient comfort.
