Summary/Objective
The Lab Office Assistant performs clerical tasks as an office assistant of a routine but varied nature in conjunction with heavy and proficient data entry, and some routine laboratory assistant procedures.
Essential Functions

Adheres to the Water’s Edge Mission Statement, Credo and Service Goals and Values providing exceptional customer service at all times.

Transcription of pathology details and entering of final reports.

Answers telephones, routes callers and takes messages all in a courteous manner.

Interacts with Physicians’ Offices in a professional and courteous manner resolving any issues regarding Pathology requisition forms.

Tracks and orders inventory and gross room supplies as needed. Ships and receives packages.

Performs computer entry, receives, logs in and handles specimens in a responsible manner.

Assists in specimen accessioning when available and needed.

Works well in a team environment to accomplish common tasks in a collegial manner demonstrating

Appropriate and professional communication and behavior toward patients and customers.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
This role requires regular walking to various locations around the location. This role also routinely comes into contact with other employees who may have contagious illnesses.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires sitting for long periods of time but could also require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping occasionally. The employee must lift and/or move items less than 20 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position in a healthcare facility which is open during business hours Monday through Friday, 52 weeks per year. On time and regular attendance including work during inclement weather will be required. This position may also require over time hours to be worked if necessary to complete assigned tasks. This position requires on time and regular attendance.
Travel
Travel is not expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent, previous office experience (laboratory or medical office preferred)
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must be able to work well independently but ask for help when needed.
Must have an understanding of lab protocol and procedures.
Must have the ability to use applicable technology and systems.
