Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive experience from check-in to check-out
- Schedule appointments using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as OfficeMate/ExamWriter
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes
- Collect patient information, update medical records, and review documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist with patient inquiries
- Assist with billing procedures including medical collection processes and coding (CPT, ICD-9/10) for accurate medical billing
- Maintain organized medical records, file documents securely, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support clinical staff by preparing care plans, reviewing documentation, and facilitating communication between patients and providers
- Utilize office management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling, billing, and record management
- Ensure smooth front desk operations by managing appointment reminders, patient intake forms, and follow-up procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office support role with clinic experience
- Strong knowledge of EMR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with health information management is preferred
- Proficiency in medical coding (ICD-9/10, CPT), billing processes, and insurance verification procedures
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing)
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Ability to communicate effectively in bilingual settings is a plus; fluency in additional languages is desirable
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and filing tasks
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and a friendly attitude
- Experience working with dental terminology or in dental clinics is advantageous but not required
- Prior hospital or healthcare facility experience is beneficial; familiarity with Optometry is a plus.
