Duties
- Assist patients and residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy preparation, or wound dressing changes in collaboration with nursing staff.
- Document patient information meticulously in medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations across inpatient, outpatient, or home care settings.
- Operate medical equipment safely and effectively while demonstrating physiology knowledge and understanding of anatomy for optimal patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care environments like Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers to deliver high-quality patient service.
- Support emergency situations by applying basic life support (BLS) skills and utilizing equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other patient transfer devices.
Experience
- Prior experience working in long-term care facilities such as assisted living or nursing homes is highly valued.
- Demonstrated background in hospital settings including ICU, emergency medicine, or surgical units enhances your ability to adapt quickly to diverse clinical environments.
- Experience with medical-surgical procedures and post-acute care practices is preferred to ensure comprehensive patient support.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks is advantageous for accurate documentation.
- Knowledge of infectious disease protocols and aseptic techniques is essential for maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs demonstrates your versatility and compassionate approach to caregiving.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or dementia care are a plus for specialized roles.
