Job Overview
The Visitor Experience Associate serves as the first point of contact for guests at the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Golden Crescent, creating a welcoming, positive, and engaging experience for children and families. This position is responsible for admissions, memberships, guest assistance, front desk operations, and supporting the daily visitor experience throughout the museum.
This part-time, non-exempt position primarily works two to three week days and a rotational Saturday and may include occasional evenings, or special events as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Welcome guests and provide a friendly, engaging first impression of the Museum.
- Process admissions, memberships, and retail purchases through the point-of-sale system.
- Answer guest questions in person, by phone, and by email regarding exhibits, programs, events, memberships, and museum policies.
- Assist visitors with wayfinding and help create a positive museum experience for children and families.
- Promote Museum memberships, programs, camps, and special events.
- Support daily operations of the admissions desk, Penni’s Café, and Tots to Teens Gift Shop.
- Assist with stocking and organizing retail and café items.
- Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and visitor areas.
- Support birthday parties, rentals, member events, and special programs as assigned.
- Follow Museum safety, cleanliness, and customer service standards.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and opening procedures as scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Experience in cash handling and retail operations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Dependable and punctual.
- General knowledge of Children’s Discovery Museum (or a willingness to learn.)
- Availability to work Saturdays and occasional evenings
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, or High school equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to meet physical demands of job including walking, standing, climbing, bending, kneeling and lifting / moving objects up to 25 pounds. Must be comfortable working in a busy, active environment with frequent interaction with children and families.
Pay: $8.00 per hour
