Location: San Diego, CA 92121 (100% Onsite)
Duration: 6+ Months Contract (Potential Extension)
Pay Rate: $ 28.56 hr on W2
Schedule: Monday – Friday
Shift Time: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM PST
Job Description
Engineering Technician to support engineering lab operations, hardware troubleshooting, prototype builds, PCB assembly, rework activities, and engineering test platforms. The selected candidate will work closely with engineering teams to support hardware development, testing, validation, and product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
· Troubleshoot engineering test platforms and hardware issues.
· Perform root cause analysis on hardware and rework failures.
· Prepare, load, solder, and modify printed circuit boards (PCBs).
· Perform PCB rework, component replacement, and blue-wire modifications.
· Build and support reference devices and engineering prototypes.
· Conduct mechanical assembly of chassis, racks, test boxes, and assemblies.
· Fabricate cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and PCB assemblies.
· Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and wire lists.
· Maintain prototype lab equipment, tools, and materials.
· Support engineering teams with hardware design, testing, and validation activities.
· Develop rework instructions and support new equipment and processes.
· Work with cross-functional teams including Electrical, Mechanical, Component Engineering, CAD, and Program Management.
· Support multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Required Skills
· Experience troubleshooting electronic hardware and engineering test platforms.
· Hands-on experience with soldering, PCB assembly, and PCB rework.
· Experience using assembly tools, soldering irons, crimpers, heat guns, and hand tools.
· Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
· Experience with cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and mechanical assemblies.
· Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
· Experience with SMT, chip rework, and electronic assembly processes.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to work with global engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
· Associate Degree in Electronics or related Technical Field.
· Soldering Certification and/or ESD Certification.
· Experience with Creo CAD.
· Experience with CNC machines, SMT equipment, or 3D printing.
· Knowledge of PCB/PWB design principles.
· Experience designing test fixtures, cabling, or circuit boards.
· Knowledge of microprocessors, microcontrollers, sensors, WiFi, BLE, USB, cameras, and video interfaces.
· 5+ years of electronic or mechanical assembly experience
