Assistant Mandarin Teacher position starting August in Redwood City.
- Assist teaching elementary-age students in Redwood City using the Mandarin Language
- 5 weekdays following the school calendar.

Required Qualifications:
- Must have 1 years or more experience working with children 3 to 8 years old face to face, over 15 hours per week
- Ability to speak/read/write Mandarin Chinese
- Ability to care for a group of children
- Ability to be a team player
- Able to communicate in person and via email in simple English
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
- Pass LiveScan background check and meet health requirements to work with children
Responsibilities:
- Support a joyful, positive and non-judgemental learning environment
- Maintain classroom and outdoor environment that is physically and emotionally safe with clear boundaries and expectations
- Connect with students. Know the strengths and areas of improvement for each child and assist in making growth plans
- Assist in teaching Chinese culture and elementary school level of world knowledge in a Mandarin-immersion environment. Converse with student frequently using the targeted Mandarin keywords and sentence structures.
- Proactively look for ways to strengthen relationships with students, organize classroom environment, and improve lesson delivery during classes
- Communicate program information/updates to parents and the teaching team
- Participate in professional development events and activities

PlayThrive School for Mandarin Whole Child Education is located on the campus of Orion school in Redwood City, CA. Our program teaches the Mandarin language via cultural activities, thematic projects and explorative play. We’re looking for teachers that believe children thrive when they can explore, have fun, connect with one another, and develop understanding of self and the world. We aim to cultivate a passion for lifelong learning in children.
