Aftercare Worker (Ages 6 Weeks–4 Years Old)
An Aftercare Worker is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children ages 6 weeks to 4 years old during aftercare hours. The role includes supervising children, assisting with daily routines, and supporting their physical, emotional, social, and developmental needs while maintaining a structured and caring atmosphere.
Hours: 3:00 PM–6:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children at all times
- Assist with afternoon routines, including snacks, diaper changes, toileting, and personal hygiene needs
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities, play, and learning experiences
- Support children's emotional, social, and developmental growth through positive interactions
- Maintain a structured and nurturing environment during aftercare hours
- Monitor children's behavior and communicate concerns to supervisors when needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom and play area
- Follow childcare health, safety, and licensing regulations and center policies
- Assist with classroom cleanup and preparation for the next day
- Communicate professionally with parents and staff during pickup and dismissal times
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, compassion, and a caring attitude toward children
- Ability to multitask and supervise multiple children safely
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities
- Pass a CCCBC Background check
- Complete childcare continuing education classes
- Complete Basic first aid and CPR certification
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow childcare policies and procedures
