Job Summary:
The Unit Clerk plays a vital role in the daily operations of our Skilled Nursing Facility by providing administrative support to our interdisciplinary team. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and organized medical records, answering phone calls, and providing excellent customer service to our residents, families, and staff. Responsibilities:
Monitor and maintain accuracy of medical records by all disciplines; notify responsible disciplines of discrepancies
Cull and organize medical records periodically and upon discharge, adhering to established medical record policies and procedures
Prepare new admission medical records
Answer phone calls, take messages, and communicate with physicians and staff as needed
Assist with resident/patient needs, including answering call bells and arranging for assistance
Monitor and log needed repairs on the unit
Accompany residents/patients to outside facility appointments
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
2 years of clerical experience, including appointment setting and transportation coordination
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Excellent communication and phone skills
Excellent customer relations experience with residents, co-workers, and families
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and attitude in all situations
Accuracy, organization, and strong follow-up skills
Ability to handle confidential information
