Spring Valley Living is currently seeking a Full-time Life Enrichment Director
The primary purpose of the Life Enrichment Director is to develop and direct the overall operation of the activity department in accordance with current federal and state guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator, to assure that an on-going program of activities is designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental, and social well-being of each resident.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assume the responsibility, authority, and accountability of directing the activity department
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the activity programs of this facility
- Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information
- Create monthly/daily activity calendar that reflects the varied hobbies and interests of the residents
- Participate in discharge planning, development and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments
- Develop preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the activity needs of each resident
- Ensure that all activity staff are aware of the care plan and that care plans are used in providing daily activities for the resident
- Schedule department work hours
- Ensure that the Activity component of the MDS is completed in a timely manner
- Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary
- Work closely with the Restorative Nurse and/or COTA on Ever-Active program
- Ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and of the resident’s response to the service
- Coordinate and host special events including holiday events
- Arrange transportation to other facilities or for field trips when necessary
- Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies
- Review and develop a plan of correction for activity deficiencies noted during survey inspections
- Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program for the activity department
- Ensure that SDSs are on file for hazardous chemicals used in the activity department
- Develop, implement, and maintain a procedure for reporting hazardous conditions or equipment
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility
- Maintain a productive working relationship with other departments, medical professionals and other health related facilities or organizations
- Develop and maintain volunteer base through relationships in the community, with staff and resident family members
- Assist the Accountant in preparing and planning the annual budget for the activity department
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information
- Encourage residents to participate in hobbies and crafts
- Participate in any other activity deemed necessary by the Administrator
Qualifications:
Activities Director certification or degree in Recreational Therapy
Experience in Long Term Care
Previous supervisory experience preferred
