TITLE OF VACANCY: General Maintenance â 1 Year Contract
POSITION TYPE: Service
ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT: The West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (WVSDB)
LOCATION: Romney, West Virginia
Performs varied duties that relate to the appearance, repair and general care of school grounds. Additional seasonal assignments will include the operation of lawn care equipment and snow and ice removal vehicles/equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent, pursuant to WV Code §18A-2-5.
Meet the definition of "Qualifications" in WV Code §18A-4-8b. demonstrated competency, pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8e (state-approved competency test), as required.
Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate.
- Possess experience and/or training in any/or all job classifications identified within this job description.

Possess a valid state issued motor vehicle operator's license.
- Physically able to do heavy, extensive lifting and manual labor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach, stand, walk, lift, grasp, write, talk, hear, see, use technology such as computer and multimedia equipment, and use repetitive motions. The employee may frequently lift and/or move at least 50-100 pounds. He/she shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed drugs while in the workplace. Alcohol and controlled substances which affect employee productivity, safety, or judgement will not be tolerated.

SALARY:
Hourly rate of pay based on WVSDB Service Personnel Salary Schedule, C Scale. Dependent on applicable years of experience and education level. Contract ends 6-30-2027.
