Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join our dynamic laboratory team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing and examining cellular specimens to assist in the early detection and diagnosis of diseases, including cancer. Duties
- Prepare and stain cellular specimens using various laboratory techniques to ensure optimal visualization under microscopes
- Examine slides for cellular abnormalities, ensuring accurate identification of potential pathological changes
- Collaborate with pathologists to review findings and provide detailed reports for diagnosis
- Maintain strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols, including aseptic techniques and proper specimen handling
- Document all procedures, observations, and results accurately within laboratory information systems
- Assist with specimen collection and processing when necessary, including phlebotomy and specimen labeling
- Ensure quality control by calibrating equipment, performing routine maintenance, and adhering to standard operating procedures
- Stay updated on advances in cytology techniques, pathology trends, and relevant medical terminology
Experience
- Clinical laboratory experience with cytotechnology certification (ASCP) required.
- Hands-on experience with specimen collection, processing, and slide preparation is essential
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and pathology enhances diagnostic accuracy
- Previous hospital or healthcare facility experience preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures such as staining techniques, microscope operation, and slide analysis required
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to cellular biology and disease processes is necessary
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and maintaining detailed records is beneficial
