Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant Position Summary
MVM Accounting is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This position provides outsourced accounting services exclusively to dairy farming operations. The ideal candidate enjoys working with clients, is organized, and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records.
This role is primarily responsible for day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory tracking, and client communication. While there are opportunities to assist with month-end accounting tasks, financial statement preparation is primarily handled by senior accounting staff.
No prior dairy or agricultural accounting experience is required. We provide training on our clients' operations and the unique aspects of dairy farm accounting. We are looking for someone with a strong bookkeeping foundation, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
Primary Responsibilities
- Process and maintain client accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Communicate regularly with dairy farm clients regarding invoices, vendor payments, customer payments, and accounting questions.
- Record and maintain feed, supply, and other farm inventory transactions.
- Enter financial transactions accurately into accounting software.
- Assist with monthly and periodic bank reconciliations.
- Prepare basic journal entries as assigned.
- Organize and maintain supporting accounting documentation.
- Identify discrepancies and communicate issues to senior accounting staff.
- Assist with special accounting projects and other bookkeeping duties as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client financial information.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Agribusiness, or a related field preferred.
- Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience is preferred but not required.
- No prior dairy or agricultural accounting experience is required. Training will be provided.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
- Experience with accounting software is preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
