Education Program Manager
Openings: 1 full-time position | Location: New London, Connecticut (on-site) | Status: Key Personnel
Position Summary
The Education Program Manager leads Contractor-delivered daily education operations in the STEM/Mission Center and Innovation Lab through the Contractor Program Manager and COR. The Government Education Specialist retains authority over educational policy, approved curricula, official messaging, and Government program decisions; this role manages execution and Contractor education personnel.
Essential Responsibilities
Implement Government-approved K-12 and adult programs and recommend operational or curriculum-delivery improvements for Government review.
Supervise Contractor Education Program Assistants and coordinate volunteer support, daily schedules, coaching, feedback, and service quality.
Coordinate operational details for school field trips and group visits, including schedules, group flow, arrivals, and program readiness.
Manage approved educational-material setup, safety, inventory, and use within established supply limits; do not obligate Government funds.
Coordinate with regional schools, homeschool networks, community groups, and military liaisons within approved outreach plans.
Support Government-approved mobile/off-site initiatives and inclusive learning experiences when assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree in education, museum studies, public history, or a STEM discipline.
Four to six years of progressive museum education, curriculum development, or education-program administration experience.
Experience implementing curriculum frameworks such as NGSS in hands-on programs, managing instructional schedules, and supervising or mentoring instructional staff.
Demonstrated professional engagement with school administrators, community groups, or comparable institutional partners.
Preferred Qualifications
Master degree in a relevant field.
Knowledge of Coast Guard history, search and rescue, marine science, maker spaces, learning technology, or interactive science labs.
Experience delivering off-site outreach or serving diverse and remote school communities.
