Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort.
- Administer medications accurately according to prescribed schedules, following all safety protocols and documentation procedures.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, reporting findings promptly to nursing staff.
- Support residents with specialized needs including Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, and tube feeding procedures.
- Maintain detailed medical records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Follow all state healthcare regulations and facility policies related to medication administration, patient safety, and infection control.
- Engage in effective communication with residents, families, and team members to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
Experience
- Prior assisted living experience or background working in nursing homes or hospitals is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in hospice care settings is advantageous.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and geriatric patient needs is essential for success in this role.
- Experience using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR systems for documentation is desirable.
- Certification in First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, and medication administration is required or will be provided upon hire.
- Familiarity with manual handling techniques and heavy lifting safety practices ensures resident and caregiver safety during physical assistance tasks.
- Understanding of state Board of Nursing regulations and senior care best practices supports compliance and quality of care delivery.
