Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Estimator/Project Manager to join our team and drive the successful planning and execution of commercial construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, managing project budgets, and overseeing the entire construction process from inception to completion. Your expertise will ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining excellent client relationships. Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed project estimates by analyzing blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications using estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
- Review construction drawings thoroughly to interpret technical details and material requirements.
- Develop comprehensive project budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Utilize construction management software to track project progress, costs, and schedule adherence.
- Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms.
- Manage project timelines by coordinating with design teams, contractors, and clients to ensure milestones are met.
- Monitor cost control throughout the project lifecycle by analyzing variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Lead client communication efforts by providing clear estimates, updates on project status, and addressing any concerns proactively.
- Review construction contracts to ensure scope alignment and compliance with industry standards.
- Oversee material procurement processes by estimating material requirements from blueprints and managing delivery schedules on-site.
Skills
- Proficiency with Bluebeam for digital blueprint reading and markup.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record in managing project costs effectively.
- Experience with HeavyBid or similar estimating software for accurate cost estimation.
- Solid understanding of construction management software platforms for scheduling, budgeting, and documentation.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately for precise estimation purposes.
- Expertise in construction drawing review to identify potential issues early in the planning phase.
- Skilled in cost management techniques such as cost control, material cost estimating, and budgeting for commercial projects.
- Construction industry experience with a focus on commercial construction estimation and project management.
- Familiarity with Xactimate or similar tools for detailed property or insurance-related estimations is a plus.
- Strong client communication skills to foster positive relationships and clarify project expectations.
- Hands-on construction site experience to better understand field conditions impacting estimates and schedules.
- Knowledge of contracts law related to construction projects to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
