This position serves as the Deputy to the FLVC Library Services Director and works to support Florida's college and university libraries in all aspects of FLVC Library Services. Works with the Library Services Director to promote shared resources and services across the state. The Deputy Director is a member of the FLVC Leadership Team, helping to set strategy, direction and policy for the organization.
Working in conjunction with the Library Services Director, provide strategic leadership and oversight of FLVC Library Services. Assist in guiding the development, ongoing planning and implementation of vision, mission, and direction that occurs in partnership with FCS/SUS institutions. Coordinate engagement efforts and activities with all member libraries. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and other consortia, working with leadership of key state agencies and organizations, potential funding sponsors and other interest groups and constituencies. Participate in strategic planning, budget planning, and decision-making and assist the Library Services Director in identifying and managing the development of new initiatives to meet the evolving needs of FCS/SUS institutions. Develop new programs and services that enable college and university libraries to use FLVC's services and products effectively.
Serve as FLVC Library Services liaison to the Members Council on Library Services (MCLS). Consult and communicate regularly with the MCLS Executive Committee and membership of MCLS to provide timely and comprehensive reporting on FLVC activities and initiatives. Supervise preparations for quarterly members council meetings including reviewing the agenda in consultation with the Library Services Director, Executive Committee of the MCLS, and others as appropriate. Provide staff follow-up where indicated. Encourage cooperation, communication, and collaboration among the FCS and SUS Consortium members and relevant groups or individuals.
Work in conjunction with the Library Services Director and college and university representatives to develop resources for the FLVC and its constituents. Identify user problem areas regarding FLVC services and products and seek appropriate solutions. Facilitate a high level of customer engagement and involvement. Ensure that member libraries have timely, accurate and useful information regarding FLVC products and services in a range of formats, including print, electronic and social media. Coordinate Library Services activities with FLVC Marketing to develop resources to communicate FLVC Library Services products and services, including annual reports and ROI documentation.
Represent the needs of FCS/SUS organizations and stakeholders to state officials and agencies, DOE, higher education community and other stakeholders. Responsible for collaboratively working with Members Council on Library Services (MCLS) on issues and projects. Attend and present at local, state, and national meetings and events related to distance education. Represent FLVC at regional and national meetings and provide leadership to committees or projects as appropriate.
Negotiate statewide contracts for products or services and supervise their implementation in collaboration with members council committees, procurement staff, and other relevant groups.
Maintain effective communications with staff and member organizations by providing informational updates, dialog and ongoing problem-solving around issues of impact. Coordinate practices and activities to demonstrate impact of FLVC Library Services to member libraries and organizations. Provide input regarding user needs, trends, and issues. Serve as staff resource person in areas of responsibility.
