MSP Plant Team Leader
Position Summary
The MSP Plant Team Leader is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the mineral sands processing plant while providing direct supervision and leadership to plant personnel. This role combines hands-on plant operation with team leadership, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved.
This role involves a combination of control room and field-based work in an active processing plant environment. The position requires working outdoors in varying conditions and maintaining a hands-on, safety-focused approach.
Must be available to work rotating 12 hour shifts as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations

Operate and monitor processing plant systems via PLC and field inspections, including feed systems, dryers, filters, magnetic and high-tension separators, spirals, and pumping systems

Ensure plant performance meets production, recovery, and quality targets

Identify operational issues and take corrective action to maintain continuous production

Perform routine checks, troubleshooting, and minor maintenance; support maintenance activities as required

Maintain plant housekeeping and safe working conditions
Team LeadershipSupervision

Supervise, schedule, and coordinate plant operators to maximize safety, productivity, and efficiency

Train, mentor, and support team members to build capability and ensure compliance with procedures

Monitor team performance and provide direction to achieve daily and shift production goals

Support workforce planning and contribute to continuous improvement of team performance
ProductionReporting

Record and report operational data, production results, and key performance metrics

Conduct basic calculations and track plant performance trends

Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance, and technical teams regarding plant conditions and priorities

Collect and manage process samples to support plant performance and product quality

Monitor results and identify variances or process anomalies
-
Ensure adherence to operating procedures and recommend improvements where needed

Operate mobile equipment including front-end loaders, forklifts, and skid steer loaders (as required)

Utilize tools, instruments, and gauges to support plant operations
QualificationsExperience
-
High School Diploma or equivalent (technical degree preferred)

Minimum 4+ years of industrial or processing plant experience

Minimum 2+ years in a supervisory or team leadership role

Experience in mineral sands or similar processing operations preferred

Valid driver's license
