Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and explaining procedures
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates
- Prepare exam rooms with necessary supplies and equipment for procedures
- Support physicians during examinations and minor procedures within outpatient or inpatient settings
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems by documenting patient information accurately and efficiently
- Perform basic life support (BLS) when needed and respond promptly to emergency situations in a Level I or Level II trauma center environment
- Conduct ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure proper billing and documentation compliance
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as specimen collection, processing, and handling
Qualifications
- Must be fluent in English and Spanish
- Proven experience in medical office setting
- Knowledge of primary care, internal medicine, or family medicine practices is highly desirable
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology to ensure precise documentation
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, medication administration, and vital signs assessment
- Ability to work efficiently
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or trauma are a plus
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients
