A Merchandising Coordinator acts as a crucial liaison between Operating Company (OpCo) sales teams, buyers, and category management. They handle product inquiries, process special non-stock orders, manage promotional updates, and trace supply shipments to ensure efficient inventory flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Support: Act as the main point of contact for sales reps, tracing late inbound trucks, tracking special orders, and routing complex inquiries.
- Inventory & Promotions: Communicate urgent supplier or promotional updates to sales and oversee processes for new item stocking requests.
- Supply Chain: Monitor drop-ship processes, confirm orders are shipped and invoiced promptly, and manage localized merchandising scripts for market costs and price management
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, but a Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
- Experience: Typically requires 1+ years of experience in purchasing, wholesale distribution, merchandising, or customer service.
- Skills: Strong communication, time management, and Microsoft Excel proficiency are essential for tracking inventory and resolving conflicts quickly.
Preferred Experience
- 2 - 4+ years in merchandising, procurement, or supply chain support
- Experience in foodservice distribution, wholesale, or retail grocery
- Background supporting category managers, sales teams, or regional operations
- Proven experience with:
o Item setup, maintenance, and pricing updates
o Vendor coordination and communication
o Promotional execution and tracking
- Familiarity with multi-location or regional business environments
