Job Title: Sawyer
Role: The Sawyer is responsible for loading orders into the MiTek saw in preparation for truss assembly. This role involves ensuring accurate cuts according to design specifications, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with Lead Sawyer and the Truss Plant Production Foreman to meet scheduled production times.
Requirements:
§ 18 years of age or greater
§ Can move and stack lumber up to 20’ for extended periods
§ Can lift up to 50 lbs. with bending, walking, and operating a forklift
§ Can be outside for the vast majority of working hours
§ Detail oriented
This role reports to the Lead Sawyer.
Responsibilities:
· Loading Orders: Load orders into the MiTek saw, ensuring accurate and efficient cutting of materials according to design specifications.
· Equipment Operation: Operate the MiTek saw and other relevant machinery safely and effectively.
· Forklift Operation: Operate forklifts safely and effectively to move or pull product.
· Quality Control: Inspect cut materials for accuracy and quality, making necessary adjustments to meet standards.
· Collaboration: Work closely with the Lead Sawyer and production team to prioritize orders and meet production schedules.
· Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on the MiTek saw and other equipment to ensure optimal performance.
· Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating machinery and tools. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure a safe working environment.
· Warehouse Safety Knowledge: Understanding and adherence to warehouse safety regulations and best practices.
· Warehouse Organization: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area, ensuring materials are safely stored and easily accessible.
· Continuous Improvement: Utilizes resources and initiative to pursue continuous personal and team improvements in collaboration with the Lead Order Builder and the Production Foreman.
· Other Duties: Respond positively to requests from the Lead Sawyer and perform other duties as needed.
