Carr Industries is a growing commercial general contractor specializing in commercial roofing, exterior envelope projects, and commercial construction. We're building a company known for exceptional quality, outstanding customer service, and modern technology.
We're looking for an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator who understands roofing systems, enjoys solving complex problems, and takes pride in building accurate, profitable estimates.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys collaborating with operations, building strong subcontractor and supplier relationships, and continuously improving the estimating process—not simply producing as many bids as possible.
What You'll Do
As our Commercial Roofing Estimator, you'll lead the preconstruction process for commercial roofing opportunities while supporting related construction scopes as needed.
Responsibilities include:
- Review architectural drawings, roofing plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and material calculations
- Develop accurate budgets and competitive bid proposals
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors
- Analyze project specifications to identify scope gaps, exclusions, and potential risks
- Prepare complete bid packages, proposals, and scope summaries
- Coordinate with project management to ensure a seamless turnover after award
- Assist with value engineering and alternate system recommendations
- Maintain estimating databases, historical pricing, and vendor relationships
- Work closely with leadership to pursue profitable, strategically aligned opportunities
Roofing Systems Experience
We're looking for someone with experience estimating one or more of the following commercial roofing systems:
- TPO
- PVC
- EPDM
- Modified Bitumen
- Built-Up Roofing (BUR)
- Standing Seam Metal Roofing
- Architectural Sheet Metal
- Roof Coatings and Restoration Systems
Experience with reroof, recover, and new construction projects is highly valued.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 4 years of commercial roofing estimating experience
- Strong understanding of commercial roofing assemblies, flashing details, drainage, and manufacturer specifications
- Ability to read architectural and structural drawings
- Experience performing material takeoffs and labor calculations
- Strong Excel and computer skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Preferred:
- Experience estimating projects for a commercial roofing contractor or commercial general contractor
- Familiarity with manufacturers such as Carlisle, GAF, Johns Manville, Firestone, Elevate, Siplast, or Soprema
- Experience with Bluebeam, Planswift, BuildingConnected, The EDGE, Stack, or similar estimating software
- OSHA construction safety knowledge
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field (preferred, not required)
