Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Melt Plant Pit Operator Level 1 to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Loxley, AL. In this entry level role, you will be responsible for performing routine and daily tasks to help Ecovery operate to its best practices. Work safely with teammates and abide to all safety rules and regulations provided by Ecovery. Operate mobile equipment, clean workstation and wear proper PPE each day. A Level 1 pit operator should have all the basic skills to set up, clean up and pour on the small rotary furnace. Ecovery will train and communicate any necessary steps in the process below. All task and job duties listed below will be performed on the small 4 million pound rotary furnace.
Responsibilities
- Operate Industrial equipment, which include forklifts and hand tools. Fill out the daily operation log on any mobile equipment you operate each day.
- Stage Sow molds for the small rotary furnace and make sure they are level and up to expectations provided by your supervisor.
- Once the furnace operator has communicated it’s time to pour the hot liquid metal, make sure you are dressed in proper PPE and are ready to pour with your coworkers.
- While pouring the hot metal, skim the sows according to the expectations your supervisor gives, and communicate anything you may see of concern to your supervisor.
- After you have poured the sows, you will operate mobile equipment to pop the sows out of the molds with proper training. Once the sows are removed out of the molds, you will work with coworkers to stencil, weigh and properly mark sows according to Ecovery’s expectations. Clean all of the metal off the sow molds and sweep the floor around you. Place all of the metal in designated bins and place in the correct bunker.
- Check the lime feeder several times daily and add lime or change the bag with mobile equipment as needed. You will fill out the lime sheet located in the lime building with any and all of the steps that pertain to the lime feeder.
- Follow all Safety and Environmental standards provided to you through training from Ecovery.
Requirements

- Accept positive criticism from supervisor for continuous improvement
- Must be able to lift 50lbs 6-7 times daily
- Good attitude and gets along with other coworkers
