Colorful Minds ABA is seeking an experienced HR & People Consultant to provide strategic human resources support, oversee employee relations, ensure HR compliance, process payroll, maintain employment policies, and partner with leadership on key HR initiatives. This role serves as the primary HR advisor to the CEO and collaborates with the HR Administrator, who oversees recruiting, onboarding, compliance tracking, and routine HR operations.
Position Summary
Colorful Minds ABA is seeking an experienced HR & People Consultant to oversee employee relations, HR compliance, payroll review, policy administration, and strategic HR initiatives. This role serves as the primary HR advisor to the CEO and works collaboratively with the HR Administrator, who oversees recruiting, onboarding, compliance tracking, and routine HR operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA, and Illinois employment regulations.
- Maintain and update the Employee Handbook, HR policies, and employment procedures.
- Manage employee relations issues, including performance concerns, workplace conflicts, disciplinary actions, investigations, and employee separations.
- Process payroll and provide oversight of employee benefits
- Oversee HR compliance, employment documentation, and HR best practices.
- Partner with the CEO on workforce planning, organizational development, employee retention, and strategic HR initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to the HR Administrator on recruiting, onboarding, compliance, and HR best practices to ensure processes are carried out consistently and in accordance with company policies and applicable employment laws.
Qualifications
- Three (3) or more years of Human Resources experience, with demonstrated knowledge of employee relations, HR compliance, and employment practices.
- Experience handling employee relations matters, performance management, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA, and applicable Illinois employment laws.
- Experience processing payroll using Gusto or a comparable payroll system preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, HR degree, or equivalent professional experience is preferred but not required.required.
Compensation
This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position compensated through a flat monthly retainer of $1,600.00 with an anticipated commitment of approximately 20–25 hours per month.
