Position Overview
Ascension Episcopal School is seeking a loving, patient, and nurturing Infant Teacher to care for and educate children ages 0–18 months in a warm, safe, and engaging classroom environment. The Infant Teacher plays a vital role in supporting each child's early development while building trusting relationships with families and creating a classroom where every child feels known, loved, and secure.
The ideal candidate has a genuine love for infants, understands the importance of responsive caregiving, and is committed to fostering children's physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive growth during these critical early years.
Primary Responsibilities
Infant Care & Development
- Provide attentive, loving care to infants while ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.
- Meet the individual needs of each child, including feeding, diapering, sleeping, and comforting.
- Create a nurturing environment that promotes secure attachments and emotional development.
- Support age-appropriate developmental milestones through intentional interactions, play, music, movement, language development, and sensory experiences.
- Observe and respond to each child's unique interests, abilities, and developmental needs.
Classroom Environment
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Ensure all classroom materials, toys, and equipment are clean, sanitized, and developmentally appropriate.
- Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and school policies.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records related to feeding schedules, diaper changes, naps, and developmental observations.
Family Communication
- Build positive, trusting relationships with families through regular communication and partnership.
- Share information about children's daily activities, milestones, and developmental progress.
- Welcome families into the classroom community and support a smooth transition between home and school.
Collaboration & Professionalism
- Work collaboratively with teaching partners, administrators, and support staff.
- Participate in required professional development and staff meetings.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Support the mission, values, and Christian character of Ascension Episcopal School.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- CDA, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
- Experience caring for infants in a licensed childcare center, school, church, or similar setting preferred.
- Knowledge of infant development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Ability to maintain a calm, patient, and nurturing demeanor throughout the day.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to meet all state licensing requirements for childcare employees.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift and carry children weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, stoop, and actively engage with infants throughout the day.
- Ability to push strollers, move classroom equipment, and perform routine cleaning and sanitizing tasks.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
