As a DSP you will work side by side supporting the participants and teaching them new skills to better learn to support themselves. A career as a DSP is rewarding when seeing your participants excel in the community and at home.
Qualifications:
- Previous DSP experience is required.
- College of Direct Supports (CDS) trainings are required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or G.E.D., or 21 years of age.
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
- CPR/First Aid certified.
- Ability to pass background checks and a drug screen.
Responsibilities:
- Caring, patient, and reliable.
- Provide support and supervision.
- Assist with daily living skills and community participation.
- Ensure safety, well-being, and dignity of all individuals served.
- Maintain and complete required documentation by end of your shift.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff, supervisors, and the participant's family.
- Read, Understand, and Implement written and oral instructions,
- Demonstrate competence and knowledge on topics required to safely support the participant as described in the participant’s person-centered service plan.
- Provide emotional support to participants to assist in working through problems.
