Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Grinder to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will operate and set up precision grinding equipment to produce high-quality components according to detailed specifications. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy, surface finish, and dimensional tolerances of machined parts, supporting our commitment to manufacturing excellence. The CNC Grinder will work with various advanced tools and programming techniques to optimize production efficiency and quality standards.
Duties
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC grinding machines, including CNC lathe and CNC milling machines, ensuring precise execution of complex geometries.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to produce parts that meet exact tolerances.
- Program CNC grinders using CAM programming software and adjust parameters for optimal performance.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify dimensions and surface finishes.
- Perform routine maintenance on grinding equipment and troubleshoot issues related to electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes.
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and abrasives for different materials, including plastics used in injection molding.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and utilizing hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment when necessary.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on tooling design using SolidWorks or CAD software to improve manufacturing processes.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying opportunities for process improvements and waste reduction.
- Assist with assembly tasks when required, ensuring parts are correctly fitted and finished.
Skills
- Proven experience operating CNC grinders, including CNC lathe and CNC milling machines with Fanuc controls or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages and CAM software for efficient machine setup.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T standards, and mechanical schematics.
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques and equipment.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately.
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes involving plastics injection molding.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations, and adjustments during machining operations.
- Experience with tooling selection, setup, and maintenance for high-precision grinding tasks.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity while maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely when moving raw materials or finished parts within the facility.
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams in a fast-paced environment.
