Assistant Controller

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our growing team. This is an on-site position based in Los Angeles, CA 90048 and is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about maintaining financial accuracy, improving processes, and supporting organizational growth.
The Assistant Controller will work closely with firm leadership and the Controller to oversee accounting operations, ensure the accuracy of financial records, support financial reporting, and maintain compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This position plays a critical role in the firm's financial success by helping drive operational efficiency and providing accurate financial information for strategic decision-making.
What You'll Do
- Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies as needed
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Monitor cash flow and provide financial analysis to support business decisions
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable financial regulations
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial institutions as needed
- Review accounting records and transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Support special projects, process improvement initiatives, and operational enhancements
- Provide guidance and support to accounting staff and assist with departmental training and development
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
- Previous law firm accounting experience required
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with financial reporting, general ledger management, account reconciliations, and internal controls
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information
- Ability to commute to Los Angeles, CA 90048
