Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Billing/Checkout Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit healthcare claims through billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, following all regulatory guidelines.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, perform collections on outstanding balances, and communicate effectively with insurance companies and patients regarding payment issues.
- Assist patients with billing inquiries, explain insurance benefits, and provide excellent customer service during checkout processes.
- Maintain meticulous records of all transactions, claims submissions, payments, and adjustments for audit readiness.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing within a healthcare setting, preferably in optometry or ophthalmology practices.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare claims management, health insurance policies, and medical coding including DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
- Familiarity with billing software applications and EMR/EHR systems used in medical offices.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology and medical records management.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients and insurance providers.
- Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Cash handling and customer service knowledge and experience a must.
