Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and attentive Recess/Cafe Monitor to supervise students during lunch and outdoor recess periods. This vital role involves ensuring student safety, managing behavior, and promoting a positive outdoor environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive, compassionate, and capable of handling diverse student needs while enforcing school policies and safety regulations.
Duties
- Supervise students during recess and lunch, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Enforce school policies, rules, and procedures related to student conduct and safety
- Manage conflicts or behavioral issues using effective behavior management techniques
- Support students with special needs or physical disabilities, providing appropriate assistance as needed
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding student behavior or concerns
- Conduct safety checks of the outdoor area, including evacuation procedures and transportation safety protocols
- Maintain confidentiality of student information while documenting incidents or concerns when necessary
Skills
- Strong knowledge of school policies, safety regulations, and emergency procedures
- Experience working with children, including those with disabilities or special education needs
- Proficiency in conflict management and behavior management strategies for diverse student populations
- Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with students, staff, and parents
- Ability to handle physical disabilities support and adapt supervision techniques accordingly
- Experience in child supervision, classroom experience preferred but not required
