The Wyandotte Nation is seeking a qualified and dependable individual for the position of Housing Specialist. The Housing Specialist is responsible for the distribution and processing of housing applications, reviewing applicant eligibility for participation in housing programs, maintaining program and tenant files, and receiving, recording, and depositing housing payments. This position assists the Housing Director with correspondence, prepares reports regarding tenant activity and housing payment collections, attends housing-related meetings, and assists with various phases of Housing Department programs and projects. The Housing Specialist will help ensure that Wyandotte Tribal Citizens are afforded the opportunity for safe, decent, and sanitary housing and will perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED is required; college education and two years of administrative experience are preferred. The successful candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, proper telephone etiquette, proficiency in computer applications relevant to the position, and the ability to perform basic to intermediate mathematical calculations. The candidate must be able to work independently, maintain confidentiality and accurate records, communicate effectively with residents and staff, manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively in stressful situations. A current, valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to travel for meetings, seminars, off-site training, and various Tribal job sites as needed. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing required physical, drug screening, and background checks.
