Summary
Full-time instructors train apprentices in universal skills and knowledge across disciplines. This role primarily focuses on instructing first-year apprentices and advanced steamfitting apprentices as needed. Instructors teach in person and must be available for in-person apprentice meetings, contests and testing.

Onboarding Goals and Activities include:
- 30-, 60-and 90-day goals for new staff as designed by the Lead Instructor and Program Coordinators
Essential Functions
- Teach assigned classes
- Ensure all assets and resources needed are available and organized prior to classes so that classes will run smoothly and efficiently
- Teach make-up classes for apprentices
- Grade tests and judge apprentices' skill and ability
- Understand and comply with accreditation or compliance requirements for curriculum
- Attend relevant training courses and seminars (e.g. ITP)
- Independently utilize current technology and computer programs, and ensure the technology used in training is current
- Create and maintain course syllabi including ensuring materials and assets are updated
- Understand rules, standards, policies and protocols included in the Apprentice and Employee Training Center handbooks
- Mentor students who are struggling with the curriculum, refer students who need assistance with leaves of absence or accommodations to Program Coordinators and Human Resources
- Other Duties and Activities will be assigned or updates as needed
Experience
Required Certifications, Licenses, Education and Skills:
- 5 + years' experience as a Journeyman
- 1 + experience as a Foreman or General Foreman
- Proficiency with of Office 365 programs, including Excel, Outlook, Word, Forms, PowerPoint, in addition to Blue Beam and others
- Proficiency with other technology tools, including Teams and Zoom
- Experience and comfort using iPads
Preferred Experience:
- Current Class 5 Boiler License
- Experience leading a complex project
- 10+ years' experience as a Journeyman in the field, or equivalent experience instructing for the same or similar apprenticeship program
- 1+ years as a current or former instructor in the same or similar apprenticeship program
- ITP Instructor Certification
- Associate's degree or other professional certification related to the trade
Industry Knowledge that will be helpful:
- Understanding of trade apprenticeship and on-the-job training programs
Environment
This position is on site and activity includes standing and speaking for several hours per day, sometimes seated work at a computer, walking, bending, and using tools, climbing ladders, work at floor level and above, sometimes on knees and other positions in the course of building trainers, climbing, pulling, occasionally using a forklift, and regularly using vision to inspect work product. Regularly lifting 50 lbs. The main campus where the job mostly takes place is large and flat; walking is required to get from each area of the building.
