Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Assist in menu planning and ingredient preparation to ensure efficient kitchen operations
- Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards throughout all food handling processes
- Support the culinary team in food plating, garnishing, and portion control to ensure consistency
- Handle food with care, using proper knife skills and cooking techniques to optimize quality
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation during busy service times
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean, organized, and functioning properly for optimal performance
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a line cook in a restaurant or culinary setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures
- Experience with dietary department standards and dietary aide responsibilities is a plus
- Familiarity with menu planning, catering, and fine dining service environments
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Prior restaurant experience or kitchen experience within the food industry is highly desirable
