American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience, including 1 year in a Level IV unit, and a WI or compact RN license.

Work in the NICU of a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU at a Magnet-designated children's hospital
-
Care for neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to greater than 34 weeks gestation
-
Patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:3
-
Manage post-op patients, g-tubes, trach/vent care, and various modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation
-
Uses Epic charting system

Day and night shift options available (3x12 hours), 7:00am-7:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am

Monday through Friday scheduling with 2-3 weekends required per 6-week scheduling period

Floating required as needed

Active RN license (WI or Compact) required

Current certifications: BLS and NRP (AHA only); PALS preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of total NICU III/IV experience required, with at least 1 year in a Level IV NICU
-
Inpatient RN travelers must have 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty

Prior travel nurse experience required, with at least one completed Level IV NICU travel assignment preferred
-
Epic experience required, preferably within the last 12 months

Teaching hospital experience preferred

Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with strict passing criteria for both adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation

Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including IV therapy, arterial and central line management, and administration of blood products
-
Skilled in neonatal medication administration including anti-seizure medications, antibiotics, IV vasopressors, and surfactants
-
Experience with neurologic care including ICP monitoring, therapeutic hypothermia, and VP shunt management is valued

Skilled in respiratory care including high frequency ventilation, oscillators, nitric oxide therapy, and ventilator management
-
Experience with gastrointestinal care including NEC, gastroschisis/omphalocele, and post abdominal surgery patients is valued

Provide developmental care, patient/family teaching, and thermoregulation support

Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted

First-time travelers will be screened carefully for Level IV NICU experience
