American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift post-surgical unit role requiring an active VA or compact RN license and Epic proficiency.
-
Work in a high-volume post-surgical Med/Surg Tele unit caring for urology and GYN surgical populations
-
Night shift schedule with 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
-
Schedule options may include 3x12s or 4x12s
-
Typical patient ratio is 1:7
-
Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required
-
Overtime paid after 48 hours for 4x12 schedules
-
Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration

Minimum of two years of recent relevant experience required

BLS certification through the American Heart Association required
-
ACLS certification preferred
-
Epic charting system proficiency required
-
Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Community hospital experience preferred
-
Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
-
Experience with IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
-
Experience with wound care, feeding tube management, and IV insulin protocols
-
Candidates must pass an EKG proficiency test with a score of 80% or higher prior to starting orientation

No prior license or background history issues permitted

Unable to accommodate PAPR fit testing accommodations

Driver's license required for address verification prior to offer acceptance

Located in the Coastal Virginia region near Virginia Beach and Norfolk with access to outdoor recreation and waterways

Must work two of the three winter holidays if extending assignment through January 2027

Longer assignment extensions through January 9, 2027 are available but not required
-
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this RN position
-
Requested time off must be submitted for review and is approved on a case-by-case basis

First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for consideration
